We ate handfuls of fat, sweet blueberries with silksoft, powdery skins, and more peaches, and the ripest mango, cut into broad slices with a knife like a silver claw. We scraped the pulp out of the skin with our teeth and the sweetness melted on our tongues, and the sand was too hot to walk on, and the river was so, so cold.
